Dome House

Architectural Form Advantages:
For maximum transmission of radiant energy, the ideal architectural form for a greenhouse is the hemispherical dome.  The angle of incidence and the orientation are perfect at all hours of the day and at all season of the year.
A greenhouse with side walls at an angle of 60 to 70 degrees from the horizontal and a roof with a slope of 30 degrees has been found to be more efficient for the transmission of radiant energy than a structure with the same roof slope but with vertical side walls.
During midwinter when the sun is relatively low above the horizon, the slanted side walls transmit more radiant energy than the vertical sidewalk.

FlowerHouse designed the DomeHouse, BloomHouse, and OrchidHouse model greenhouses with this design feature in mind.
